Prior to living and working in Southern Delaware, Dave served as an officer for the New York Police Department. During his time in New York, Dave spent weekends in Rehoboth Beach restoring homes and enjoying the welcoming downtown community. Through those projects he discovered a newfound passion for real estate and property preservation and renovation. He eventually left New York and became a full time downtown Rehoboth Beach resident to devote his full attention to his dream. Although he made a drastic career change, Dave’s ultimate goal has remained constant; to make a positive impact on the lives of others and on the region he calls home.
Dave has a unique view on being an agent; he sees it as an opportunity to collaborate with his clients, not only throughout the entire process of buying or selling a home but also throughout any future transactions. Any real estate agent can routinely handle a transaction, but Dave offers much more than that. He believes in building relationships with every client by offering his personal experience and expertise to maximize the potential for a successful and fulfilling transaction. Dave has also been a top producer at Mann & Sons since he joined in 2005.
Dave began by purchasing and renovating investment properties in the area, and from there, his list of business endeavors and service offerings expanded as the needs of his clients began to crystallize. Today, Dave McCarthy Companies is a one-stop-shop offering services in real estate sales, real estate development, new construction and renovation, vacation rentals, property management, asset management, and interior design. In each division of the business Dave and his team strive to build lasting client relationships with strong foundations of trust. The visions of his clients are understood and their dreams are brought to fruition through Dave’s laser focus and willingness to go above and beyond.
Walt Cassel
Walt Cassel
Walt is a key player on the Dave McCarthy team, not just in the realm of real estate sales, but as the CFO of the network of complementary businesses started by Dave McCarthy. Walt graduated from Philadelphia University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and completed his postgraduate work at Villanova University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA) licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His 27-year career in financial services as a public accountant began at Price Waterhouse Coopers, one of the “Big Four” public accounting firms. From there he moved to Acme Market’s financial operations where he ran their whole non-retail purchasing department. After Acme, Walt moved to NYC and began his career at Grey at Phase Five Communications, Inc. and for over eight years provided support to its President in the management of the business’ financial operations and profitability. He was soon promoted to SVP, Worldwide CFO, and his role expanded to include the financial operations and reporting for all Grey Healthcare Companies, a WPP Company, both domestic and internationally. In 2013 Walt was recruited by Chandler Chicco Agency/Inventiv Health (a Healthcare PR communications company) and in 2015 he left the Healthcare industry and moved to Rehoboth Beach full time to partner with Dave McCarthy in managing and expanding his business operations.
Walt’s approach to real estate is similar to Dave’s. He aims to guide his clients through the entire process, providing savvy advice backed up by his years of experience and expertise. Walt exercises a driving and dynamic approach towards his work, and he won’t stop until he has provided the best possible options for his clients. Nick Crawford
Nicholas Crawford
Nicholas was born and raised in Milford, Delaware but has spent most of his life traveling and living in Rehoboth Beach. During his free time, he practices professional and artistic photography, surfs around the world, masters crossword puzzles, and enjoys spending time with his wife and dog.
Nicholas has an Associate's Degree in Film Studies at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. He is able to relay his creative eye and professional knowledge of photography and videography to ensure your listed home draws attention in ways that others won’t.
Nicholas also spent many years in customer service at a local restaurant in Rehoboth Beach and incorporates those skills to assist his real estate clients. He listens to the needs and desires of his clients and works collaboratively with his clients and his team to fulfill those goals. Nicholas has a unique understanding of Sussex, Kent, and New Castle counties, having lived in all three, and is motivated to find homes for his buyers in the locations they desire. He enjoys helping his clients navigate the process of buying, selling or renting their home, and looks forward to helping you with your real estate needs.
Brooke Wallace
Brooke enjoys being a part of our RBHR team and ensures that our clients experience is first-class through the entire process. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and ensures all guests feel like they are at home during their stay. She is a native Delawarean born in Newark, Delaware and has spent most of her life in New Castle County. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with degrees in Cognitive Science and Spanish. She continued her education at Boston University, where she earned a master’s degree in Management and graduated with honors. After her schooling, she traveled solo through Europe before starting her career. Wallace’s passion for real estate and love for the beach brought her to Bethany. She brings an enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit to the team along with a love for connecting with our guests.

Kim Capano
Kim came to Rehoboth Beach on vacation in 2003, fell in love, and never looked back. She met her husband on that trip and was married and a full time resident soon after. She loves Rehoboth Beach and living here is a dream come true. She has been a REALTOR since 2013, now happily, in her tenth year of the job she loves and joining the team of Dave McCarthy and Associates, Inc has been a perfect fit. She is happiest when she can help her clients through the buying and selling process by viewing the relationship with her clients as an act of service and helping them by going a step above. She enjoys providing them with “Service Beyond the Sale!” Delaware is my home and I enjoy sharing the benefits of living in this beautiful state with all my clients.
Kim loves Rehoboth Beach and has not only been a business owner but has previously worked in the Building and Licensing Department within the city. She has a love for education and keeping her real estate knowledge current is a passion. She uses all of life’s valuable knowledge in her real estate business and enjoys helping clients throughout Sussex County.
She is a breast cancer survivor and a mentor for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Her heart and happiness are fulfilled when she is helping others, and this is a cause near and dear to her heart. She was on the receiving end of the most caring people she had ever met when she went through her fight. They enriched her life beyond measure, and she enjoys returning the gift.
Geof Shupard
Geoff is a life-long resident of the area, having been born and raised in Dewey Beach. His father, Herb, has been a realtor in southern Delaware since 1984, giving Geoff a great amount of exposure to the local market and real estate business. He has been a realtor since 2008, and absolutely loves helping people realize their dreams of owning a home in the Delaware beach resort area. When he is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Nichole, and their young son, Chaz, as well as enjoying the outdoors hunting and fishing, playing golf, and coaching lacrosse. Geoff attended Limestone University in South Carolina and played Division II lacrosse, where he was a member of the 2002 NCAA National Championship team. He has been a coach for the Cape Henlopen boys’ lacrosse team since 2005, serving as head coach since 2023.
